For Whirlpool Gasket - Door (Part Number: OEM9277029)

Jeff for Model Number EV190FXRW0

I purchased the door gasket for this unit from you. I used the "appliance compatibility tool" to double check that it was correct. It has the correct dimensions for the door, but it is substantially different from the original, basically in that the original has more rubber and is softer and more pliable. I actually think the original is superior to the replacement. The main problem is though that the gasket does not seat well. I propped the freezer door tightly shut, thinking that the gasket may conform and become satisfactory, but it has not. Prior to installation, I laid it out flat in a warm, sunny location, so it is not creased and folded. It actually holds the freezer door open if the door is not forced shut.

Jeff, You can use a hair dryer and go along the door gasket where the spaces are and heat the gasket up to make it more pliable to get it to seal. Just make sure that you keep the heat moving around.

Hello Hall! The freezer door gasket is part number 2188435A. Pull the old gasket off. It may be best to soak the new gasket in warm water to help take its shape/form. The new gasket will press into the door liner. You may need to use a hair dryer to form the seal, be careful not to melt it. Hope this helps!
