This replacement door gasket creates a tight seal between the refrigerator door and cabinet. It restores proper sealing to keep cold air in and moisture out when the original gasket is torn, warped, or leaking. What it does:

  • Forms an airtight barrier around the door opening to prevent air leaks
  • Helps maintain consistent temperatures and reduce frost or condensation
  • Replaces gaskets that are cracked, brittle, misshapen, or not sealing
  • Common fix for doors that won't close or seal properly
What's included:
  • 1 door gasket
Install notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator before servicing
  • Warm the new gasket in hot water or with low heat to relax folds
  • Start at the corners and press the gasket lip into the channel; tighten any retainers evenly
  • Close the door and check for even contact all around; adjust hinges if necessary

Tom, the 2188436A/2188436A Gasket-Door is the correct part to order for the model number you supplied. The part is in stock and available at this time. In your case, you'll probably find it easier to remove the door assembly, place it on a pad on a table or work bench and remove all the screws and retainer strips and reverse the procedure to install the gasket and door back on the freezer. Remeber don't overtighten the screws. you need to tighten them all evenly or you'll get a "waffling" efect of the gasket. Thanks,

Danny W for Model Number 106.8263581

I have a very old but working great Kenmore 15 upright freezer. However there are 2 issues which need fixed - need new door gasket for model 106.8263581 and the key - door to open and close the freezer completely feel apart. Right now I use duct tape to hold door shut when in use but would like to come up with an easy and batter solution to open and close. I am not really a good handy man but take pride in fixing things when I have the opportunity. Any help or direction you can provide is very much appreciated. This freezer is from my dad's days and is kind of a family freezer.

Danny, The part number for the door gasket will be 2188436A. The lock for the unit is not showing as being available any longer. To change the seal you would need to remove the door from the unit and lay it on a flat surface. Once you have it on a flat surface there will be screws on the inside of the gasket you remove and then will be able to take the gasket off and install the new one.
