The Fresh food door gasket is an OEM component for Whirlpool refrigerators. As the main door seal, this rubber gasket works to prevent air and moisture exchange between the refrigerator interior and exterior. It plays a crucial role in maintaining optimal freshness levels.

Causes of a bad fresh food door gasket include cracks, tears, or compressed sections that no longer form an airtight seal. Prolonged use of 10+ years can cause rubber to break down. Entering/closing the door carelessly could damage the gasket over time as well.

Symptoms of a bad fresh food door gasket include:

  • Frozen items thawing in the fridge shelves
  • Increased moisture inside causing ice/fog buildup
  • Higher electricity bills from inefficient cooling
  • Warm air entering when opening the door

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
