Hank, It's a bit involved, but pretty easy to perform the repair. First remove power to the dishwasher and remove the lower access panel and kickplate to access the motor pump assembly. Remove the racks 3. Remove Wash Manifold 4. Loosen Wash Arm Hub and Pivot. 5. Remove Spray Arm. 6. Remove 3 Torx™ screws securing Filter Guard. 7. Entire Wash Motor Assembly can be lifted from Tub for further disassembly. 8. Remove and replace Pump Gasket if necessary. 9. Disconnect wiring harness from Wash Motor Assembly. 10. Remove 6 Torx™ screws securing Discharge Housing. Once you've lifted the pump assembly out of the tub, you'll want to clean the tub sump area, then seat the gasket around the pump motor assembly. You can also apply a thin coat of rinse agent around the opening, then set the pump assembly into place and reverse the procedure.

Hello Gary, There are three motor mounts on these motors. There is only one in the rear so if you can reach around and locate it the unit does not have to be removed. The seal can also be changed without pulling the motor assembly.

Is the silicon grease absolutely necessary? Does it simply ease installation, or actually provide a seal? I took out my old gasket to trim off the inner edge because it was disintegrating. I temporarily reinstalled it after wiping off the foul gunk and grease, before I noticed that the grease comes with the new gasket. However, one part seller had this listed as requiring "Hazardous Materials" special shipping. I'm not so sure I want that in there with the water that cleans my dishes. Hopefully the old seal will hold up until I figure out what to do. No leaks *yet*. Thanks!

OhioEric, It is not necessary to put the silicone grease around the seal as it is used for ease of installation.

Jeannine, No you should not need anything other than the pump seal. But, you do want to check and make sure the drain hose is not twisted, kinked, or restricted. You will also want to check and make sure the water in the bottom of the tub on the first fill of any cycle is between 120 and 130 dgrs.F. and you are using the proper amount of detergent for the load size, and conditions.
