The Centerpost Gasket is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool washers. This component serves as a vital seal around the center post or agitator shaft, preventing water leaks and ensuring proper operation during wash cycles.

Symptoms of a failing centerpost gasket may include:

  • Water leaking from the top or bottom of the washer tub
  • Excessive moisture buildup around the agitator area
  •  Potential mold or mildew growth due to leaks

Causes of needing to replace the centerpost gasket can include normal wear and tear over extended use, damage or deterioration from exposure to heat or chemicals, or physical tearing or displacement of the gasket material.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore washer models.

Leticia, I would recommend checking the water inlet valve and the hose from the valve to the tub.

Sal, The only way to get this tub out would be to try and rock the tub from side to side. This is really the only way to do this issue.

Mark for Model Number LSR6132HQ0

Hello...please bear with me as I walk through this. First, my wife reported that the clothes were not spinning dry enough--basically they were still dripping wet. A little online research seemed to indicate a worn clutch. Ordered and I replaced it. But when I pulled the machine away from the wall, I found that it has also been leaking water from underneath (not found earlier, unfortunately, due to a couple of towels that had accidentally gotten tossed behind washer, that were wet.) So, again, a little research said the most likely culprit was the pump. Even though I could see no water around the pump or hoses that attach to it. I replaced the pump only. But water is still leaking from underneath. I have watched it, and the leaking will begin after the tub has filled, but before the machine begins to agitate. After the load was done, pulled machine from wall and propped up securely so I could look under. I'm finding some water on the drain hose, but also above that, on the bottom of the plastic outer tub. Suggestions? I'm guessing either the tub seal, or a crack in outer tub maybe? The machine is about 15 years old, by the way. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Mark, The most likely cause for this issue will be that the centerpost seal is faulty and would need replaced. The part number is W10814296.

Hello Mike, This is a common problem with all washers in that standing water will stagnate. Certain mineral deposits in the water seems to amplify this. There are several things that can be done to decrease the issue. Washing at least 2 loads with hot water and bleach helps a lot. leaving the lid open so it can dry out a bit between uses helps also. If the smell is severe, you can pour a pint or two of white vinegar into the tub between uses since the bacterial that causes mold, mildew, and stagnation does not thrive in white vinegar and it will not harm clothing or the dyes therein.

Bill for Model Number LA5460XTW0

My Whirlpool Washer has a trickle-type leak at the bottom back left side which appeared recently, especially noticeable during initial fill cycle. The machine is on a wood platform in my basement cement floor that is painted . Aside from the bottom tub gasket seal, is there ANY other location where a leak could occur, such as a crack in the outer tub perhaps? I acknowledge that in the process to replace the bottom seal, I would inspect the outer tub for leaks. Just asking as far as probable vs.less likely leak locations. What is the probability factor for a seal leak?

Bill, You will want to check for leaks around the hose that feeds water from the water valve to the tub. Also the outer tub having a crack is a possibility with the leaking issue. You will want to try to determine the exact location of the leak with visible checks. Also check to make sure that the pressure hose did not come loose.

Hello Manuel, This is normally not oil but actually spoiled fabric softener that has broken free from the inside of the agitator. The only way oil can get into the wash is if the vent hole on top of the gearcase gets stopped up. When this is the case clearing the vent hole with a safety pin will clear the issue. If oil if found in the floor the gearcase will have to be replaced to correct the issue.

Hello Jenny, Remove the 1/4 inch screw from the bracket and hook it into the end of the spring. Rotate it around and slip it into the slot and use the screw to draw it back into proper position.

Mark, The only way to get the tub off when it is stuck is to push down on the inner tub side to side to try and break it free. There is no special tool to get this loose.

Phil, Based on the information and after looking at the picture, this issue would appear that the tub has a crack in it. You will want to pull the tub and check it and also check around the center post seal.
