Hello Dale, This sounds more like there could be a loose or intermittent connection at the door hinge connection. I would check there first and if no problems are found, check for other points of high resistance like loose connectors by looking for discoloration in the wiring. The motor could be the issue but I would first try to locate a connection issue or something that could be overloading the motor like excessive ice chip buildup inside the bottom of the ice container.

Bill, it sounds like the shaft that connects the motor to the ice bucket may have slipped down in the shaft and is not making good contact with the ice bucket. You can remove the 2 screws that hold the collar of the shaft, they are located just under the bucket. Pull the shaft up and push the white round collar down a little and try running the bucket again. Adjust the shaft as needed so the bucket will set properly on the door.
