Jay March 01, 2013 for Model Number MDB5000AWW My Maytag dishwasher doesn't seem to latch properly when I close the door. In the past, I would hear a click once the door was properly engaged and then I would know it was closed. I cannot start the dishwasher unless it is latched completely so not sure what part is at fault here.
1 Answer Hello Jay, I would first make sure all four feet of the unit are contacting the floor. If the unit isn't leveled properly, it will put a twist in the body that will prevent the door from catching. It also has to be attached to the cabinet/countertop. If the unit can move around, this affects the door latches' ability to hold. If these two things check out and the door strike 903098 on the front of the tub assembly is not damaged or loose (out of adjustment), the door latch assembly 99002254 will probably require replacement.
