The Inner Door Glass is an OEM replacement part Whirlpool ranges. It is a clear glass panel located inside the range door that helps retain heat and allows for viewing of the cooking surface. As a barrier retaining heat, the door glass plays an important role in the range's cooking efficiency. The glass measures approximately 18 1/4 x 12 3/4 inches.

Causes of a bad inner door glass can include thermal stress from frequent temperature changes, accidental impact, or improper cleaning techniques that lead to cracks or shattering.

Symptoms of a bad inner door glass include:

  • The foggy or cloudy appearance that impacts the visibility of the cooking
  • Cracks or chips that compromise the sealed barrier and allow heat to escape
  • Difficulty closing securely due to misalignment

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Inner Door Glass (Part Number: OEM18042561)

Joe for Model Number Gw395legq0

Took the door apart. Replaced 2 pieces of inner glass. There is another part with glass in it that holds the 2nd piece of inner glass in place and helps hold the insulation in place. It has a gap in one side of it - between the metal and it's own piece of glass. Which way does that part go back in? Gap towards the top or bottom? The diagram isn't helping... The metal around the glass is squared on one side and slightly indented on the corners of the opposite side, which I think might mean the indents (and thus the gap) go on the bottom because of the hinges. However, I wonder if the gap needs to go towards the top to help vent the unit.

Hello Joe. Looking at the diagram, it looks like the 2 holes goes to the top and the lip rail goes to the bottom. There is no clear diagram of this. It should only fit one way into the unit. Remember to not force anything when dealing with glass.

Lana, inner door glass part number WP9781593 is the two inner door glasses used on your model. If the gasket is ok there shouldn't be a need to replace it. Thanks.

Hello, you will need to determine how to remove the door on the model number you are working on. If you open the door to the first stopping point, some oven doors will lift off the unit in this position. On other models, you will see clips on the back of the hinge toward the opening where the hinge enters the range. If yours is like this, you will open the door all the way open, then pull the clips down until they stop and lock in place. Then close the door to the stopping point and lift the door off the range. If your door does not lift off, and it does not have the clips, then you will open the door all the way open. You will see a hole in the hinge at the bottom of the door. You will insert a pin or nail into that hole and close the door to the stopping point. Then you can lift the door off the unit. Hope this helps you, thanks!

Hello John. To change the glass in an oven door, you will need to determine how to remove the door on the model number you are working on. If you door does not lift off, and it does not have the clips, then you will open the door all the way open. You will see a hole in the hinge at the bottom of the door. You will insert a pin or nail into that hole and close the door to the stopping point. Then you can lift the door off the unit. Once the door is removed, you will lay it on a soft surface and disassemble the door. Pay attention and make notes if needed for reassembly of the oven door. Once you have replaced the door glass, you will reinstall the oven door back onto the range in reverse order of the way you removed it.

Hello, The service manual shows no reference as to which way the glass package is to be installed, so it will make no difference which way you install it.

Gary for Model Number KITCHENAID KERC508LSS0 30" ELECTRONIC RANGE

Hi, ordered the inner door glass for the range today and then figured I would try to remove door as per instructions on your page. I couldn't find the specific model but looked for holes in hinge to put nail or pin and couldn't locate any so then I closed door to first stop point and tried lifting door off of hinge but door did not budge. Is there a third method for getting door off and if this is different can you also post directions for replacing inner glass, thank you
