Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Mold Tray (Part Number: OEM18049878)

Paul, It is very doubtful that the mold is leaking. The ice maker fills for 7 seconds so any fill longer than that then it would overfill. It will need either an ice maker or water valve, the water valve could be stuck and not closing or the ice maker sticks in the fill mode. Remove the cover of the icemaker and use a jumper across T and H in the face by the center gear and close the door switch so the unit thinks the door is closed. When the center gear turns a quarter turn remove the jumper. Watch closely as the unit fills and count how many seconds it fills for. To long of a fill then replace the ice maker.

Ken, you may want to test to see if when the water is overflowing if the ice maker is sending 120 VAC to the valve. You can test this by testing directly at the valve for the voltage. If it is receiving voltage and overflowing, then the issue is going to be with the ice maker motor [8201515]. If it is not getting the 120 VAC when overflowing, you may want to check the water pressure going to the valve.

Mike, you may want to check to see if the water level has been adjusted on the module itself. The water level is usually set around the halfway point when looking at the adjust spring on the module. You can try adjusting the water level first to ensure that the level it is set to is not the problem.

Chris, You will want to test the heater by removing the motor module and test across the 2 outer pins on the icemaker for continuity. If there is continuity then test the 2 inner pins that are close together and if there is no continuity then the thermostat is faulty.
