This evaporator fan motor circulates cold air across the evaporator and throughout the compartments for even cooling. Replacing a worn motor restores proper airflow, temperature consistency, and overall defrost performance.

  • Circulates air over the evaporator coils and through the vents to cool both compartments
  • Helps maintain stable temperatures and supports effective defrost
  • Failure symptoms include weak/no airflow, warming in one or both sections, frost buildup on the evaporator cover, or loud/intermittent fan noise
  • Motor may start or may run intermittently, causing long run times
Includes: One evaporator fan motor. Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing; internal panels and fan blades can be sharp
  • Access the motor behind the freezer's rear panel; remove shelves/ice maker as needed
  • Transfer the original fan blade and any mounts/grommets to the new motor; match blade orientation
  • Route wiring as original, secure the motor, and ensure the fan spins freely before reassembly

Fritz for Model Number Thermador KBUDT4270A02

Ours is 10 or 12 yo. It has begun to make a low rumble sound in the center of the freezer compartment. It is audible with or without the door open. Is that most likely the motor or a bracket holding it or ....? The freezer and fridge are both holding temp just fine. Though this past summer the freezer was sweating a bit more than usual. I discovered that both door gaskets need to be replaced. I know these issues are related, but I want to attack the rumble first.

1 Answer

Fritz, This rumble would most likely be caused by a evaporator fan motor and would need replaced.

Glen, The unit should go from room temp to 0 degrees within 24 hours. If the temp is staying between 0 and 39 degrees then you will want to check to see if there is a good frost pattern. If there is not then this would likely be a floating restriction or some type of sealed system issue.

Hello Benny. This fan motor moves the air across the evaporator coils inside the unit so the unit cools properly.
