Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Front Bearing Ring (Part Number: OEM18025011)

1 Answer

Huck, it is possible that a screw or other piece of metal stuck into the felt bearing 279264 and cut a groove into the front bearing ring WP3394508 to cause the metal-on-metal sound. The thumping would also suggest an item stuck in the felt as it will cause this noise once the seam of the bearing ring hits debris. Inspecting both parts, removing debris, and replacing as necessary would be recommended.

Dan for Model Number CE2950XSW3

My initial problem was no heat on 25 year old machine. I had a bad cycling thermostat, bad hi limit thermostat, and a bad thermal cutoff. Replaced all three and put in a new element in the process. (The thermal fuse and thermostat heater for the cycling thermostat both test OK, and 240v power is OK, and blower fan seems fine as it moves a lot of air) The root cause of the problem was probably due to a +/- 50% clogged chute. I cleaned the chute and ducting thoroughly, like new. After installing new parts and running for a few cycles the thermal cutoff opened again - and again no heat. Before I put in another new thermal cutoff, what other reasons would explain why it is running hot and tripping the hi limit thermostat? Could it be leaky seals? Thanks, Dan

Dan, Leaking seals could certainly cause an issue with the thermal fuse blowing but also check to make sure that there is nothing in the blower wheel. If there is something in the blower wheel that is causing air flow restrictions then this would cause this issue also.

Hello Helen, This sounds like when you put the drum back in you failed to get it up on the rear drum rollers. Also check the4 front bearing ring WP3394508 for excessive wear.
