Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Oven Thermal Fuse (Part Number: OEM18038160)

Don, the relay WP9752759 behind the control panel can be tested for 120VAC by testing the red wires to neutral. If there is not 120VAC, then it is likely that the thermal cut-offs have failed and would need to be replaced. If this is the case, it is likely that there is an airflow issue with the fan or there was an overheating situation that occurred, causing the thermal cut-offs to fail. This would need to be verified either by turning the power off to the unit and testing the thermal cut-offs WP8304452 for continuity or by testing the incoming voltage to the thermal cut-off for 120VAC. If the thermal cut-offs pass testing, then there may be a voltage supply issue.

Yosef, You will want to check to make sure that the oven sensor is good. The resistance at room temp should be 1090 ohms and for every 1 degree of temperature rise you would add 2 ohms. This would be the most likely cause for this issue.

John, You will want to check all of your wiring connections if the oven was working previously but not working now. This would be a loose or pinch connection most likely.

Hello Ike, I was able to pull up a KEBS177BBL0. If this is the correct model number, the most probable cause of the unit still being dead is the main control board 3181703. While it is possible to open the thermal cutoff, these are normally opened by high temperatures. You can check for power at terminals P3-1, P10-7, P10-8, P8-4, and P9-1. There should be 120Vac on each of these in reference to ground or neutral. I'm sorry but this part 3181703 has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. We would recommend contacting a company such as Corecentric Solutions 866-737-2244 corecentricsolutions.com and ask if they support board 3181703. You should also check the door lock assembly 3178410 since L2 has to be passed through the switch on it for the unit to operate properly.

Inge, Sorry but , you're Wrong... Both ovens have an individual Nonresettable Thermal Cutoff WP8304452. Because your oven is a double oven, and the thermal fuse is located on the back top portion of the oven cavity, you'll need to remove the oven from the wall, remove the back panel, and check and replace the fuse.
