Karin December 03, 2014 for Model Number LWA30AW For two weeks, tub would fill with water, I had to manually turn flat piece under timer switch slowly until it would catch on a wash cycle. Sometimes in permanent & delicate but not in normal. Wash cycle & spin cycle ended too fast. Now machine will not, fill, wash or spin. Knob is pulled out and I can hear little clicks or like its trying to work. Is this the timer needing replaced? My tub is full of water and clothes and can't get it to drain. And the timer it's saying I need says for a 3 cycle & mine is a 7 cycle. Does this matter? Thank You.
1 Answer Karin, You have the correct timer part number WP37929, order and replace it and you should be fine from there on. It doesn't really matter but the seven cycles is a combination of motor speeds(you have a two speed motor) and the three different wash cycles on the control panel. The timer contacts manipulate the motor speeds during the cycle. That's where the problem is, you have several damaged contacts inside the timer causing the washer to act and run erratically. Mike August 04, 2014 for Model Number LWA40AW2 I believe that I need a new timer for my washer (Part No. AP4047042). I am trying to dis-assemble the old timer. Is there a special way to separate the timer unit (behind/inside the control panel) from the dial and switch, which are located on the outside (user side) of the control panel?
1 Answer Hello Mike, The timer knob will screw off of the timer shaft. This is usually done by pushing the knob on the timer in and turning it counterclockwise to unscrew it from the timer shaft. Read More...

Michael D. May 10, 2014 for Model Number AMANA lwa40aw2 The washer continues to the next cycle without stopping. Is the timer at fault?
1 Answer Michael, Yes, the timer WP37929 is most likely at fault. But before you replace it, check and make sure the washer tub drains completely and the water level switch 40077201 resets to the empty position. A erratic circuit from the water level switch can cause the timer motor to remain active and advance through the other cycles. Read More...
