Lisa Dorn July 04, 2018 for Model Number MER7664XB2 we need to replace both sides of the door trim, does the order include two pieces or do I need to order two separate trims?
1 Answer Lisa, you will need to order a part for the right side and the left side. There are different part numbers depending on the color of the trim. Read More...
Tom N. October 29, 2017 for Model Number KERI201PBSO I replace the bottom door trim which is black, the oven door is stainless steel, I ordered the part that said BLACK, the next one said stainless steel. Is there a difference between the one that said black and the one that said stainless steel because in the picture they both look black. I thought the one that said stainless steel would be"stainless steel"but mine was black so I ordered the black one. I put it all together but now I can get the door back on. I thought I was following directions, but no luck. I am wondering if I don't have the hinges set right when I tried to put the door back on, or did I order the wrong part. Also I do need a new right side door trim. .
1 Answer Tom, Yes, there is a slight difference between the bottom trim pieces. the WP8523180 is slightly wider and heavier than the black trim, to accept the stainless steel glass panel and weight. But that shouldn't create an issue with the door closing. The right side trim for the model number you supplied is W10761014 / 8523165 Black Right Hand. Here are the door removal/installation instructions. "To Remove: 1. Open the oven door. Insert door removal pins, included with your range, into both hinge hangers. Do not remove the pins while the door is removed from the range. 2. Carefully close the door until it rests against the door removal pins. 3. Grasp the door on the sides with your fingers on the front of the door and your thumbs on the inside surface. 4. Pull door straight up, then toward you. Hinge hangers will slide out of front frame hinge slot. Do not remove door removal pins until the door is replaced on the range. To Replace: 1. Grasp the door on the sides with your fingers on the front of the door and your thumbs on its inside surface. 2. Hold oven door so that the top edge of each hinge hanger is horizontal. Insert hinge hangers into the front frame hinge slots. 3. Tilt top of door toward range. Slide hinge hangers down onto front frame support pins. Make sure the hinge hangers are fully seated and engaged on the support pins. 4. Insert the door stop clip with its angular surface at the top of the frame hinge slot, then push in the bottom of the clip until its flanges are flush with the front frame. " If you lost or misplaced the removal pins, a 1/8 in. drill bit, allen wrench or "finish" nail will be sufficient to hold the hinge hangers in place to remove and install the door. Read More...
Jani August 20, 2015 for Model Number WFG371LVS2 Hi, I think the right trim of my oven is broken but I'm not sure if this the right part for it as I can see the left trim(which is fine) has 2 pivots/grooves - one at the bottom and one at the side. The pictures suggest only one. Can you help me with the right part?
Sam March 11, 2012 for Model Number RF368lxps1 In order to clean some gunk that got between the interior and exterior glass panels, I removed the two screws on the top trim piece. After the front panel came off the door, the side trim and top trim pieces sprang off the door before I had a chance to look at the assembly. There are no clear views online or in my manual. Now that I want to re-assemble the door, I need to know how it goes together. 1) It appears the side trim pieces serve as a barrier between the metal door frame and the front glass piece. Is that right, or are they supposed to help hold the front glass panel in place? 2) Do they go on with the shorter side to the front and longer side down the side? 3) Is it better to remove the door completely before trying to re-assemble the door, or can this job be done with an extra pair of hands? Please advise. Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Sam. I always thought it was easier to remove the door but other technicians argue that getting the door off and back on was more trouble than it's worth. If you opt to remove the door, you have to find two small screws that fit in the holes in the hinges almost exactly (the holes are not tapped so they will slide in, not thread in) so when you close the door, they contact the hinge and oppose it's closure without contacting any enameled surface. At this point, you lift on the door and the hinges lift out easily. (Note the angle of the door and how the door is manipulated as reassembly is exactly reversed). Also put some towels down to lay the door on before door removal so no damage is incurred on the door or the surface on which you plan to work. Now the trim on the sides go behind the glass. You can actually play with it a bit more now than you can while installed on the unit, so it does make it easier. The side pieces space the glass out evenly and the trim at the bottom and the top is the only parts that go to the outside of the glass. As far as which way they go, they will only fit one way and you will recognize if they are in the wrong direction. After getting the door back together, manipulate it back into position and when both sides are in so the door is in the fully opened position, remove the screws. I hope this was useful in solving your issue and have a great day! Read More...
Bill July 27, 2011 for Model Number GR563LSXX My door trim piece is grey. What color replacement do I use, Bisquit or black?
1 Answer Hello Bill! For your Whirlpool model GR563LXSS* model you will use the black oven door trim kit part number 8184858. Please note, this part has been redesigned by the manufacturer. The lower screws are no longer used and the side trim now locks into the lower trim with the dimples on the lower end of the side trim. Thanks! Read More...
