This vacuum break is the washer's water-inlet anti-siphon fitting. It maintains a required air gap so the tub fills properly without drawing used water back into the supply, helping prevent leaks and backflow issues.

  • Maintains an air gap at the inlet to prevent backflow/siphoning into household water lines
  • Helps ensure consistent, unobstructed water flow into the tub
  • Replaces a cracked, clogged, or leaking vacuum break at the fill area
  • Common symptoms include leaks from the rear/top during fill, visible cracks, or restricted/noisy fill
What's included: One vacuum break. Installation notes:
  • Unplug the appliance and shut off both water supplies before servicing
  • Access the fill/inlet area; note hose routing and part orientation
  • Remove hose clamps/hoses and the old vacuum break; install the new part and secure clamps
  • Restore water and power, then run a fill test and check carefully for leaks

Brian, You will want to check the water valve to make sure that it is not leaking around the solenoids. It may be the vac break but I would check the valve as well.

Hello, Here's how to determine what the problem is: Start the machine filling with water. Unplug the washer. If the water continues to flow, the water valve 285805 has failed. If unplugging the machine stops the water, the issue is either the water level switch is clogged at the tub end or the water level switch has failed. Remove the hose from the water level switch and blow into it. If you can hear the air escaping into the tub area, replace the water level switch W10337780.

Hello David. Check and see if to much of the drain hose is inside the drain pipe and is causing the machine to siphon out the water in the unit. Also, make sure air can get around the hose so it will not siphon out. Hope this helps.

Michael, You need to check the lid switch circuit first 285671, if the switch or wiring is bad, the washer will not drain or spin. Thanks and Good Luck

Hello Amy. You will need to check and see if the drain hose is to far into the drain pipe. It only needs to be about 6 or 8 inches inside the pipe. Also, check and make sure there is an air gap around the drain hose and it is not air tight inside the pipe. The vac break will not fix the problem. Hope this helps.
