The Water Inlet Valve Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This valve assembly is crucial for regulating the flow of water into the dishwasher during the wash and rinse cycles.

Common causes include mineral buildup from hard water, wear and tear from frequent use, or electrical issues affecting the valve's solenoid. A malfunctioning valve can lead to improper water levels or no water entering the dishwasher at all.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve assembly include:

  • The dishwasher not filling with water
  • Low water levels during cycles
  • Water leaking from the valve
  • The dishwasher not cleaning dishes properly

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Water Inlet Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM18038769)

1 Answer

Hello Adam, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. If you are getting water to the manifold I would suspect an issue with the manifold AP6012227 or the spray arm AP6012971 itself.

Jack, This would not be an issue with the dishwasher as there cannot be backflow pressure. This would be an issue with the faucet itself.

Sheleigha for Model Number GU2400XTPB6

I have a Whirlpool dishwasher Modle GU2400XTPB6 that won't fill with water at all, I have replaced the main control circuit board. I have replaced the door latch switch. I have replaced the water inlet valve as well as the inlet assembly, I've tested the float/water level switch for continuity and it's still good, I've replaced the internal rear feed and all of the wash arms plus support. I just replaced the pump and motor assembly and circulation motor. Recently replaced the drain pump motor, tested the thermistor and its still good. Yes the water supply is turned on and I've checked for any clogs and blockages. I already cleaned all the filters but it still won't full with water. I've practically replaced and rebuilt this dishwasher but still no water flow.

Sheleigha, Turn the dishwasher on and check to see if there is power to the water valve. If there is but no water is coming through then the valve you replaced may be faulty. If there is no power then trace the wiring back to the control board and make sure that there are no damaged wires.

Vbchevy for Model Number Kenmore 665.17464300

Good Afternoon from Virginia Beach, I have a Kenmore Model 665.17464300 Ultra Wash Dishwasher that will not start. When I select a cycle the led lights, I press the start button an nothing. After about a minute the led goes off .I assume the control board is getting power due to the LED coming on. (I have the Tech sheet)When I press the cycle button then the start button I get no AC @the fill valve.( I am using a Klein tools wireless voltage tester)The overfill float is free and I hear a click when I pull it up or down. From looking at the schematic there is a circuit breaker on the control board that in series on Pin p5 in series with the wash pump circuit. Could this be an issue? I haven't pulled the upper panel yet. Of course it could be the overfill switch itself. Your thoughts on possible things I overlooked, I will check the control board for the circuit breaker. Based on the symbol it looks to be resettable. Thank You Joe in Va Beach, VA

Hello VBChevy, based on the symptoms, it is likely the Start pad of the control panel switch membrane has failed, the control board has accepted the cycle selection but is waiting for the Start button to be pressed and it will time out and turn off after about a minute, the keypad is part of the front console (WP8542352) and is no longer available from the manufacturer.

Winnie, with the breaker to the dishwasher turned off, the junction point will be behind the kickplate and there will be a cover on the junction box to the right side that would need to be removed. This will expose the wire nuts so that they can be removed.

Kathy, the failure would most likely be the valve WP8531669. If the valve is not receiving 120VAC and water is leaking through, the valve failing would be verified. However, if there is voltage going to the valve when the dishwasher is turned off, the failure would be in the main control WP8564543. Unfortunately, the main control has been discontinued and is no longer available.

Mike, If the water is not running into the unit then test to see if there is 120 vac getting to the water valve. If there is and no water in the valve then the issue will be the control board. If there is power to the valve and no water then the valve is faulty.

C.S. for Model Number KUDS01ILBL6

Dishes are not getting clean on the upper rack. I've replaced several parts already (they didn't appear worn) and no change. I'm pretty sure it's a water pressure problem because the sink faucet was also running slow. When I checked the faucet aerator there was a lot of small particles plugging it. After clearing them the faucet runs great. I'm thinking the dishwasher inlet is also plugged with particles. Where would I look for these to clean them out? Is there an inline filter somewhere?

1 Answer

Hello C.S., You would need to turn the water supply to the dishwasher off and remove the kickpanel to access the water valve. Remove the water line and the 90° elbow. You should find a screen behind this elbow. You should be very careful not to damage this screen since sedimentation and mineral deposits that can get past this screen will stick to the valve face and cause a possible overfilling situation that could cause water damage to your home.

Hello John. Make sure your water pressure is good and if so, it sounds like the valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.
