Previously asked if there was a cover or diverted for inlet valve that sprays into the dishwasher. The answer was no and the answered said it sounded like the pressure was too high. Follow up question: is there a way to reduce the water pressure to that hole where the water comes in? If so, how? How could the water pressure have increased all of a sudden? None of my other water faucets or appliances have experienced an increase in pressure. The water spraying in doesn't seem to be high pressure. It just seems to be aiming towards the front instead of down and towards the middle. That's why I asked if there was some sort of diverted plug to direct the flow.

1 Answer

Hello PJ, the incoming water flow/pressure can increase if the flow restrictor which is built into the water valve has deteriorated and is allowing too much water too fast. There is no real way to test for this short of just replacing the water inlet valve and checking if the problem has stopped

IKEA whirlpool IUD 4000 series Does the water inlet opening inside the dishwasher have a cover or diverter or spout on it? Mine is spraying a strong jet of water across the front of the washer causing a strong stream towards the door and it leaks from there. It looks like a " raw" opening in the side of the tub. If I put something in front of it (not blocking it) diverting or diffusing the spray, it doesn't leak. So it seems like there might be something missing from that opening that still allows the water in but directs the flow back into the dishwasher and away from the door. I haven't been able to get a diagram of the inside of the unit to check.

1 Answer

PJ, There is not a diverter or cover that goes over the water inlet. This issue sounds like the water pressure to the unit is too high and you will want to lower the water pressure.

I have a leak around the inlet port on the left side of DW. It is identified as part 8269240. It “wiggles” around and doesn’t fit tightly. I have found the part in your website that says it’s a replacement for this part. Problem is the install video (and every video is see for water inlet replacement) says to loosen the nut on the inside of DW and remove inlet. Problem is there is no nit inside the DW... not on Quiet Partner iii. I have no idea what’s holding this on and how to tighten it.

Damon, On the inside of the dishwasher there is a gray louvered cap that is on the side wall. You would rotate this cap to remove it and take the inlet assembly off.

Ce, Yes, it's possible for the fill valve to fail and not allow water to enter the dishwasher tub. First check to make sure the float isn't stuck in the up position. Then check to see that you are getting 120 VAC to the fill valve wires from the control board. The fill valve for the model number you supplied 3374621 / 3369868 Dishwasher Inlet Valve is no longer available from the manufacturer. You may have to "shop the internet" using the manufacturers part number or check with a local parts distributor for a replacement part.

I noticed my "bezel" (part number WP8269268) from my water inlet in the dishwasher came off and I can't get it to reattach to the water inlet assembly (when I push against the white inlet assembly it pushes back - not letting me get a good seal. I don't see anything online about reattaching the bezel and getting a leak-free seal. I'm guessing I'll need to pull the whole dishwasher out and then replace the whole assembly? I'm not sure how I can get the bezel to attach to the assembly. Do I need to press on it from the outside (insulation) portion of the dishwasher? Any help would be appreciated. I see a lot of folks saying it was easy to install but not exactly stating what they did to install the parts. I have never pulled out my dishwasher and am not sure what I'd need to do to do that. I'm assuming disconnect my incoming water line. Thank you.

1 Answer

Paul, The dishwasher will come out if you remove the 2 screws at the top when the door is open. Once out in order to install the bezel it will only fit in one way and then you would rotate it to lock it in place.

Mark, No there is no sealant or adhesive needed for the cover. The cover has a tight fit that locks into place and would not leak.

Hi- My dishwasher was leaking from around the Inlet Valve. We removed it and cleaned up the parts. They had water scale built up on them. The O Ring looks intact as does the rest of the unit. When we hooked it back up it is still leaking around the sides of the valve where it goes into the dishwasher. We checked to make sure it was tightened properly, but it still leaks. What do we need to do now? Would sealing around it with silicone work or would we be prone to more leaks down the road? Should the O Ring be replaced even though it looks new? Thanks for the help.

Dan, If there is soap residue and the unit was leaking then it may be too much detergent usage. Too much detergent can cause excess sudsing which will lead to dripping issue.
