The Water Valve is an OEM replacement part for GE side-by-side refrigerators. As part of the internal plumbing system, the valve controls the supply of water into the refrigerator for ice and water dispensing functions. It opens and closes precisely based on electronic signals from the control board.

Causes of a bad water valve can include mineral buildup disrupting water flow, seal deterioration from repeated use, or damage due to freezing temperatures. 

Symptoms of a bad water valve include:

• Slow fill times for the ice maker or water dispenser  
• Odd sounds coming from the valve area 
• Water leaks at the valve inlet/outlet ports
• Failures of the ice/water dispenser to function normally
