Kitchenaid Dishwasher KDSS21 Will not dispense detergent or doesn't dispense detergent

This bi-metal is the thermal actuator that releases the detergent dispenser at the proper point in the wash cycle. Replacing a weak or failed actuator restores reliable detergent cup opening and consistent detergent delivery for better cleaning. What it does:

• Heats and flexes when energized by the control to trip the dispenser latch
• If failed, the detergent cup may not open or may open inconsistently
• Can leave detergent in the cup and lead to poor cleaning results
• Often suspected when the cycle runs but the soap door stays closed

• 1 bi-metal actuator assembly

• Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
• Remove the inner door panel to access the dispenser area
• Note wiring positions and orientation; transfer connectors securely to the new actuator
• The dispenser latch/linkage moves freely and test door release before reassembly
