Maytag Dryer MDE5960AYW Timer will not advance

This timer with a built-in chime controls cycle sequencing and provides an audible end-of-cycle signal so the appliance finishes and alerts you when a cycle is complete. It replaces a failed or silent control timer. What it does:

• Advances and times cycles so the appliance runs through its programmed steps.
• Sounds an audible chime at the end of a cycle to notify you the cycle is finished.
• Can cause missed cycle advances or no end-of-cycle alert when it fails.
• Common symptom: no chime or the appliance won't progress through cycles.
