Roper Washer RAS8445JQ0 Timer will not advance

This mechanical timer controls the wash-cycle sequence on top-load washers—coordinating fill, agitate, drain, and spin. Replacing a failed timer restores proper cycle advancement and reliable start/stop so each step runs at the correct time.

• Controls the timing and order of fill, wash/agitate, drain, and spin functions
• Switches power to the motor, pump, and water inlet valve at the proper moments
• Common failure symptoms: cycle won't advance or stops mid-cycle; skips agitate or spin; runs past the end of the cycle
• Knob doesn't advance or must be manually turned to proceed between steps

• Disconnect power before servicing; turn off water if you'll be moving hoses
• Access through the control console; photograph wiring and transfer connectors one at a time to matching terminals
• Mount the timer securely and align the shaft with the knob/dial—do not force the shaft
• Reassemble the console and run a test cycle to proper advancement
