Sears department store has been selling appliances since the very beginning, almost 100 years ago. And, while Sears branded appliances are amongst the most popular, Sears hasn't manufactured a single appliance. Instead, they have other manufacturers make appliances for them under Sears or Kenmore brand.
Most Sears appliances are made by Whirlpool, but pretty much every manufacturer at one point or another had made various models under Sears brand.
Our Sears Model Prefix Chart below will let you know exactly who made your Sears appliance by using the first three numbers (prefix) of the appliance model number. For example, if your range model is 665.1574990 then it was made by Whirlpool. You can then choose the right manufacturer from the list on the right to look up your fault code.
