Paul M Monroe , WI February 03, 2018 Appliance: Samsung Range NX58F5700WS/AA-0001 This 9 month old switch membrane developed vertical cracks from bottom of membrane not from abuse. I ordered switch membrane NX58F570 (DG34-00024A). Removed the rear left & right wire covers before removing the back guard wire cover. Carefully releasing the membrane control ribbon (by snapping the connector loose before pulling ribbon) from the mother board then remove the main display holder with main board attached carefully resting main holder assembly hanging out of the way. Then remove membrane bracket which has the old membrane stuck to it. I noticed the control assembly frame (the large shiny stainless top back splash that you see as you use the range) had small burrs around the stamped opening where the membrane was sandwiched and carefully used emery cloth to touch up these burrs thinking maybe this is what caused the membrane to fracture in multiple areas along the bottom. I then used a sharp putty knife to scrape off old membrane and then used goo gone to remove adhesive from the membrane bracket getting it spotless clean. I then carefully aligned the new switch membrane over the bracket straight and pressed it out sticking it to bracket. I then reversed the procedure until all reassembled including carefully latching the new wire ribbon into the connector on the main board. Powered up the range and all energized. My hope is that this new membrane does not begin to show fragmented cracks again after time and if so it will be time to shop for a new 30" all stainless steel slide in gas range with convection and grill. Would like to upload pictures of the old membrane damage if possible so others can elaborate on this issue being a defect or just a random occurrence.
