A carriage bolt is a type of fastener. It features a smooth rounded head and a square domed top. It has threading, which leads to up to the square shoulder. The purpose of its square is to prevent the bolt from spinning. Once the carriage bolt is inserted through the hole, using a nut and washer can provide additional security. Carriage bolts can corrode and loosen over time. Since it doesn't have a slotted head, a socket wrench is needed when replacing. This bolt carriage replacement is compatible with wood chippers, tillers, string trimmers, lawnmowers, and edgers. It is a genuine MTD product that measures 5/16x.075. It has a smooth rounded head and square shoulder underneath it. This carriage bolt is sold individually.
Removed old scraper blade. Filed away bent edges where casing was worn. Installed new scraper blade and bolts. added a backing plate to body where erosion occurred. East repair. Best part was that big snowstorm was forecast for Wednesday night. 12-18 inches expected. Parts arrived on Wednesday morning, right at time predicted. I was up and running before the snow hit (actually only got 6 inches. So much for the Storm of the Century) Read more

The friction wheel for a snowblower is sometimes also known as a friction disc or a friction ring. The friction wheel is what helps to move the snowblower forward. When the disc is in contact with the spinning drive wheel, the disc will rotate and turn the axle to propel the snowblower. Over time, the friction wheel can start to wear down or even break. If this happens, it will mean that the snowblower will move slowly, or that it might have erratic movements. Owners who find that they are having similar problems with their machine will want to check the friction wheel to see if it is damaged or broken. They will need to replace the disc before they can use the machine efficiently and safely. The genuine OEM replacement friction wheel is for use with snowblowers, and it is sold individually. Compatible brands include Cub Cadet, Craftsman, Troy-Bilt, Yard-Man, Montgomery Wards, Bolens, Huskee, MTD, Yard Machines, and Ryobi.

In a snowblower, the driveshaft is connected to a part called a worm gear. The worm gear turns the auger blades which eject the snow. The worm gear is connected to the worm shaft, which causes the auger blade to turn rapidly. Eventually, the incredible torque inside the machine, plus the occasional bumps and bruises experienced by the machine in operation and when being stowed, may cause the worm gear to malfunction. When the snowblower is erratic in its operation and fails to remove snow completely, there is a good chance the problem is the worm gear. To replace the worm gear, remove the housing to get to the worm shaft. Remove the entire worm assembly. Next, remove the blower fan and remove the worm gear. Grease the auger assembly before installing the new gear. Reverse the order to reassemble. While the snowblower is disassembled, it's the best time so exam the auger, driveshaft, sheer bolts, and tires for wear. You may find other parts that need to be updated. Make sure to replace the worm bolt and any other necessary parts with a genuine OEM manufactured part such as this one. This gear can be used in a number of snowblowers, including machines made by Yard Machines, Craftsman, Bolens, Yard-Man, Troy-Bilt, Cub Cadet, Ryobi, Montgomery Wards, Huskee, and MTD. Part sold individually.
This is a simple extension spring with an outside diameter of 0.38 and a slack length of 2.5. It is primarily used as an extension spring for snowblowers, but may be compatible with other lawn equipment. It’s designed to apply tension as the throttle is applied. The more gas there is, the more resistance will be present. Under most circumstances, replacement is easy. When the spring breaks or gets rusty, look at both points of attachment. Memorize where it’s attached, or take a picture, and remove the old spring using a pair of pliers if necessary. Install the new spring and the tool is ready to use. This is an OEM part sourced directly from MTD, and it is sold individually. It’s black in color and was initially designed for Troy-Bilt lawnmowers. However, because this is a versatile part, it has since been repurposed for a number of MTD and related machines in other brands. These include lawn tractors and snowblowers, as well as lawnmowers, in brands such as Ryobi, Yard Machines, Husky, and Cub Cadet.
This genuine OEM replacement part is an extension spring for a Craftsman snowblower idler pulley assembly. The idler pulley attaches to a part of the snowblower's housing and is helps to transfer energy throughout the belt drive. This extension spring helps to redistribute some of the back-and-forth motion created in the pulley as the snowblower runs. This keeps the assembly from shifting out of place and potentially slipping. This extension spring is attached at two points and, if pulled in both directions too far, can eventually lose some of its tension. When this happens, the idler assembly can begin to shake and even slip out of place. Replacing the extension spring is an easy job that will only require a socket wrench to remove the idler pulley. A pair of pliers may help to remove the spring from its clips. This part is only compatible with Craftsman snowblowers and is sourced from its original manufacturer. It ships individually and any additional parts needed will have to be purchased separately.
This spacer is a genuine MTD part that can be used as a replacement part for several different kinds of small engines, including lawn mowers, snowblowers, and wood-chippers. A spacer's function is to serve as a means to lengthen the distance between parts by fitting over a bolt or a screw to secure and maintain that distance. A reason to replace a spacer might be simply losing or misplacing the spacer itself, as it is small and can easily fall through cracks or unscrew itself over long periods of time. Other reasons include the gradual rusting, deterioration, bending, or cracking materials that can be attributed to general overuse or long-term exposure. If a spacer is subject to any of this kind of damage, it is best to replace it before using an appliance that requires a functioning spacer, as the malfunctioning spacer might cause permanent or serious damage. Always wear gloves when handling, repairing, and operating outdoor equipment. This spacer part is compatible with the brands MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Yard-Man. This part is sold individually.
