Starter Rope
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 697316

Almost all small gasoline engines are started by pulling a starter rope, which initiates the compression in the cylinder that fires a spark plug, igniting the air-fuel mixture that starts a small gasoline engine. Starter ropes may become frayed with use and have to be replaced. Replacing the starter rope is not time-consuming. Begin by removing the shroud, the part of the manifold that covers the starter pulley. After removing the old starter rope, insert one end of the new rope into the pulley assembly and tie a knot in it so it won’t slip out of the slot. Then feed the rope into the starter pulley assembly by holding tension on the rope and using a screwdriver to turn the pulley assembly counter-clockwise until it is taut. Hold the pulley in place with the screwdriver to keep the spring from unwinding as you replace the shroud over the assembly. Keeping the tension on the rope, remove the screwdriver. The only thing left is to attach the starter rope to the mower handle. This starter rope is a genuine OEM manufacturer’s replacement part made by Midwest Engine. It is designed to work on most any Briggs & Stratton, Simplicity, Cub Cadet, or Toro made small engine. These engines are used on lawnmowers, chippers, and other small engines. It is sold individually.

Air Cleaner Gasket
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 271139S

This air cleaner gasket is a genuine replacement that is designed for select models of 3-5 HP small engines from Briggs & Stratton. The air cleaner gasket is designed to fit between the air cleaner and the carburetor assembly. This helps to create a seal between the two components and ensure that air does not leak out of the engine to provide the appropriate pressure. Gaskets are exposed to a lot of heat and pressure, along with constant vibrations, which can cause them to become frail or brittle over time. Replacing them is usually considered a part of routine maintenance and OEM parts should always be used. This genuine OEM air cleaner gasket is manufactured to exact standards and can be used on select engines from Briggs & Stratton and Toro. The engines are typically found on equipment like blowers, lawn mowers, generators, and other small lawn and garden machines. This gasket is sold as a single unit and does not include additional components or hardware. To replace the gasket, be sure to have the appropriate tools and a cool engine for best results. Generic Spark Plug Terminal
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 493880S

This genuine OEM replacement part is a spark plug terminal for a wide variety of small combustion engines. In a combustion engine, the spark plug generates a small electrical charge that creates enough power to start up the ignition and engage combustion. The plug connects to the ignition through the terminal. Spark plugs generate and then pass a small electrical current through to the ignition. Usually, the main issue with spark plugs is that this current hyper-extends and ends up frying the spark plug. However, if the terminal is damaged, the charge will not pass into the ignitor, and the engine will not turn. If the spark plug can carry a charge but the engine still won't turn, it's likely the terminal that needs replacing. This is an easy repair because the terminal should just snap on and off. If stuck, a pair of needle-nose pliers should make it easier. This high-quality replacement part is compatible with engines from Murray, Toro, Lawn Boy, and Briggs & Stratton. It is sourced from the original manufacturer and ships individually.

Spark Plug Boot
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine

The spark plug boot is a rubber piece that is responsible for connecting the spark plug to the spark plug wires and completing the connection. Spark plugs are necessary to create the engine spark that will start the motor in lawn equipment and other small engines. The boot holds the terminal and keeps everything protected from the elements and insulated so that it continues to work correctly. Screw
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 690837

This is a replacement screw that can be used on various types of lawn and garden equipment. The type of equipment will affect where the screw is used on the tool. A screw is used to attach various components together so nothing comes loose while the tool is in use. It can also be used with a nut. It's best to choose a nut that has the same finish and threading as the screw.A screw can be damaged in many ways. If this occurs, it will need to be replaced. Corrosion, wear and tear, extreme stress, and high temperatures can all cause a screw to fail. Inspecting the screw can indicate whether it will need to be replaced. Flange Screw
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 691108

Flange screws have a flange located near the top of the screw, which helps to distribute the connection force over a larger area to reduce potential damage to the machine. It also allows the screws to be used in oversized or irregular holes, and it helps to ensure they stay in place. This flange screw also has a hex top. Screws can last for a long time. However, they may become corroded or worn over time and need to be replaced. They could also become lost and need a replacement. Without all of the screws in the proper places in a machine, it could vibrate too much, which could render it less effective or unsafe to use. The flange screw is a genuine OEM part that can be used with many types of machines including lawn mowers, snowblowers, tillers, pressure washers, leaf blowers, generators, wood chippers, and other small engines. The screws are compatible with Briggs & Stratton, Craftsman, Toro, Cub Cadet, Murray, Lawn-Boy, Snapper, Simplicity, and MTD.

Flange Bolt
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 691640

This screw, manufactured by Briggs & Stratton, has multiple uses in small and medium sized gasoline powered engines, including generators, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, log splitters, chippers, tillers, pressure washers, and vacuums. Bolts of this design are used to secure engines and accessories to the body of the power tool. Manufactured with a smooth nozzle, these bolts are capable of withstanding four times the resistance of a regular hex bolt. For this reason, they are often used to secure the housing of moving parts, such as the cylinder head. Periodically, the wear and tear experienced by any engine will result in interior pieces needing to be replaced. In such cases it always a good idea to also replace the hardware that secures the various parts of the device together. Flange bolts and nuts should be replaced with genuine OEM parts such as this one, which is manufactured to meet the same specifications as the original. Occasionally, the high heat of the engine, coupled with extensive use, can cause a hex bolt such as this to freeze up. In such a case, a machinist is necessary to drill out the original bolt and retap the hole so the bolt can be used. This screw is compatible with equipment manufactured by Briggs & Stratton, Simplicity, MTD, Craftsman, Lawn Boy, Toro, Cub Cadet, and Murray.

Generic Friction Spring
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 691855

This replacement friction spring is a genuine OEM part meant for any number of small appliance engines run using a starter rope. This spring absorbs large amounts of kinetic energy that could damage the starter rope pulley system. It helps keep the pulley from being overstretched, which would create enough pressure to break the entire system. This spring sits at the center of the pulley system and creates resistance as the user yanks the starter rope. Friction springs can become worn out after repeated use, especially if a user tends to yank the starter rope quite forcefully. The most obvious sign of a worn of friction spring is if the pulley system lacks any resistance. As the user pulls the cord, they should feel a little pull back, but if the friction spring is worn, there will be much less resistance. Replacing this part is straightforward and will only require a screwdriver. Simply open the pulley system, carefully remove the old spring, and install the new one. This part is compatible with a wide number of appliances from Toro, Vanguard, Briggs & Stratton, and Lawnboy. It comes sourced from the original manufacturer and ships individually.
