Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Sticking/seizing agitator output shaft leading to belt failure leaving washer inoperable   Jason L. • Lees Summit , MO • September 24, 2014

Perfectly! Replacing Agitator Shaft is not for the faint of heart. Replacing output shaft pinion gear on the bottom of the agitator shaft requires care, experience and patience with pressing/driving drift pins without damaging the gear itself. One slip of the drift/punch or press apparatus will ruin the gear/teeth face and will lead to failure of the transmission internally when put back into service. As best as I can tell the pinion gear is discontinued and no longer available so take care!... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Air vent vertical pivot pin broken   Mark S. • Eliot , ME • June 17, 2016

During reassembly after a thorough cleaning of the air conditioner, one of the vent side pins broke off. When I received the new vent, I tried changing my approach to the installation: I inserted the vent pin on the side that doesn't include a track, and then, instead of sliding the other pin through the track as I'd done in the past, I used a flat tip screwdriver to gently pry the side panel away from the vent and slid the new vent straight down into its slots (round pin for rotation, flat... Lower brake bearing

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You After a process of elimination it turned out to be the brake assembly   Ken M. • Pierson , MI • September 13, 2016

I first replaced the two drive belts and the motor springs. That didn't fix it although they did need replacing. I then replaced the two bearings and the brake assy. The washer runs like new. If you replace the brake assembly, you should also replace the bearings. It will save a tear down later on. The Maytag repairman wanted $600.00 dollars to do the job. I did it for less than $200.00. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer would only spin.   Byron V. • Bellevue , MI • February 04, 2020

Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. Long and short the replacement parts fit perfectly and the washer is running like new. Special thanks to the online support make my repair possible. Read more
