My GE dryer from the late 80's/early 90's was squealing when it would start up, belt or bearing I was thinking. Removed front of dryer and back access plate allowing me to see that the pipe just slipped over the blower. A small tab in the back cover was inserted inside the left side of the pipe and when I straightened the tab I could move the pipe to the right and then straight out. Replacement of the pipe was the reverse. The new pipe did not have a hole for the tab, so I bent the tab to its original position, and rested the pipe against the tab.
