Replaced the inlet control thermis (thermostat) . Now it completes the cycle but clothes are not 100 % dry. I would add 15 minutes more and that helps. The Inner Door Cap is an OEM part for GE electric dryers. Located inside the dryer door opening, it functions as the interior lining that shields insulation material.
GE dryers incorporate insulation around the door area to limit heat loss during cycles. The plastic cap acts as an additional barrier behind the metal door. This maximizes efficiency by retaining warm air circulation only inside the drum.
Causes of a damaged cap include prolonged heat exposure leaving it brittle with use over time or physical stresses cracking the plastic.
