This Craftsman sprocket gear assembly fits Remington chainsaws. The sprocket is designed to drive the proper-pitched chain around the guide bar. One of the most important components of the chainsaw is the sprocket. A skipping, jerking, or a dragging/stretching action are signs that the sprocket needs to be changed. Worn out sprockets affect the efficiency and working of the chainsaw, and can result in wear on all the other components connected to it. It is recommended to be changed every two or three years. Replacing the sprocket can be done in only a few steps. First, take off the top cover. Next, take off the spark plug wire and battery cables. Users will also need a piston tool to lock the piston in place. Remove the clutch and then remove the old sprocket. If needed, lubricate it. Reassemble everything in the reverse order. A good working sprocket will keep the chainsaw and its components lasting longer and working better. This is a genuine OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer and sold individually.
