Dishwasher had an intermittent problem and would not always drain after the final rinse David E. • Centennial , CO • February 10, 2015
I replaced the sequence switch. The video on this site was super-helpful. All work was completed in about 20 minutes. Hardest part was to position the door latch properly when reassembling the door. It took some thought, but was not difficult.

The Filter & Gasket Assembly is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This part traps food particles and debris during the wash cycle, preventing them from redepositing on dishes or clogging the drain system.
Causes of a bad Filter & Gasket Assembly can include wear and tear from regular use, accumulation of hard water minerals or detergents affecting the gasket's seal, and damage to the filter mesh that allows larger particles to pass through or clog the assembly.
Symptoms of a bad Filter & Gasket Assembly include:
- Poor cleaning performance, with food particles left on dishes after a cycle
- Water leakage around the dishwasher's base, indicating a compromised gasket
- Unpleasant odors from trapped food particles that are not properly filtered out
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Dishwasher not draining Thomas C. • Gaithersburg , MD • November 03, 2014
Removed and cleaned plastic filter strainers (located in the bottom rear of the dish compartment) that was packed with sediment. In doing so I found the filter gasket assembly badly deteriorating (rubber coming apart with the simplest of touch). While trying to remove the filter gasket, I broke the lower spray arm assembly due to the plastic being brittle. (Unit is over 10 years old!) Then, while ordering parts, I read that the Piston & Nut assembly is the typical cause of the condition I was...

Leaking water onto the floor John G. • Canmer , KY • May 28, 2015
The main conduit was broken and the pump connector had a hole in it. The pump also was showing signs of leaking. I completely disassembled the dishwasher cleaned everything and reassembled. The repair videos are a big help. Thank you.
