Common theme on the blogs was thermistors and or defrost heater/thermostat. Ran self-diagnostics which turned on defrost heater which was fine. Found on-line troubleshooting guides. Checked motherboard, showed infinite ohms on heater/thermostat circuit. Took apart freezer compartment, found defrost heater element was toast.
