When I called a local repair shop they said it sounded like the main control panel and it would cost over $200.00 to repair. I bought the replacement part for $100.00 and installed it in about 1/2 an hour. Got the part fast, works great and that works out to $200.00 an hour for my labor! Read more

I used lime away, vinegar, finish washer cleaner none of them worked. Finally just use Brillo on the entire cabinet interior. It came out very clean. Only needed very light scrubbing. Then replaced the severely corroded filters Riser tube and upper jet which was not turning. After this the upper arm turned perfectly silverware and glassware and silverware came out rinse very clean. Will do preventative maintenance in the future. Our GE was installed about 8 years ago and was AWESOME for much of its early life. However, progressively its cleaning ability diminished. By replacing all the spray arms (clogged with debris), filters, drain hose, and sump...this dishwasher cleans like it did when it was new! Cost was around $100 (also replaced a wheel and the silverware basket) and labor was relatively simple. And to think...my mother-in-law said, "Wouldn't it just be easier to buy a new one?!?".
