This was a relatively easy repair. It took longer than a conventional water heater, because the shroud and control panel had to be removed from the top of the hybrid water heater to access the anode. The anode wasn't difficult to remove and the new anode had "pipe dope" applied from GE. I applied some plumber's tape, installed the new anode rod and torqued it to 90 fl-lbs, per the GE spec for my hybrid water heater.
