The control panel where the door button attached was broken off. Not able to open microwave door. A new control panel was ordered. It was a pain to remove the key membrane and the stainless steel cover from the old panel to transfer over. It was all glued down. You have to pry and use heat gun to get the glue undone. Let me first say that I did not intend to fix this microwave due to the age, however there are literally zero new microwaves that are small enough (height and depth) to fit. After uninstalling microwave I tried simply replacing the fuse hoping that it just got tired after 21 years of service. Upon testing the fuse blew about 2 seconds after pressing start. I ordered a replacement door latch. It was simple to snap off the plastic trim bezel on the inside of the door, then raise the existing latch and unhook it from its guide. (Lift and pull sideways until it snaps out of its track.) Read more
I unplugged the microwave and took off a couple of screws and security screws to access the inside panel. Noticed the door latch bracket was broken.....replaced it and put it back together. All in all took about 15 minutes and the problem was fixed! Read more
