This part is an ice auger gear motor that is used on refrigerators with freezer units. The motor is the component that turns the auger, which in turn pushes the ice cubes out of the dispenser. If the motor fails, the dispenser will not dispense the ice cubes. Some users report the ice dispenser only working intermittently at times. The motor may sound slow or not make any sounds at all when the dispenser is pressed. This part is very easy to replace. Be sure to unplug the refrigerator unit before replacing this part.
