I like fixing things and I like my 15 year old Frigidaire GLWS1649AS2, so I wanted to fix it. What I discovered, apart from what's seen in the videos: I went through all the research and started taking apart the machine thinking I needed a new spin bearing and wanting to see if and what I could do. I was willing to find I couldn't do anything, buy a new machine and trash this one. I thought I'd play it safe and also planned on the tub seals. Once I got the tubs out (the point at which I... Ordered my replacement unit from APP, along with a few other "while I am fixing this I should replace that since I am disassembling the washer" parts also from APP. After 2 hours of repair work, the washer is back in full working as new order. The only recommendation to others is make sure you order ALL the parts for the job. Take time to investigate all that you will or might need to replace. An ounce of prevention is worth the pound of cure. Like the old line; measure twice and cut... Read more
This on-off switch terminal is composed of electrical contact areas that connect to a charge or load on a battery. One is marked for positive current while the other is where the current returns to. These terminals can sometimes stop working or suffer corrosion which makes them dangerous to use. Brushing and cleaning a terminal can help remove dirt and debris, but a malfunctioning terminal requires a replacement. This is the case if the corrosion is severe enough to eat away at the metal or the terminal doesn’t clamp on the way that it should. The battery terminals can be removed and replaced using tools like pliers, a socket set, a wrench set, and a hacksaw. This terminal is a genuine OEM component directly from the manufacturer. It’s designed to be used on engines of snowblowers, lawnmowers, chipper shredders, and tillers. It is compatible with Tecumseh, Husqvarna, Toro, Troy-Bilt, Craftsman, Simplicity, Cub Cadet, Briggs & Stratton, and MTD equipment. Some items that can help with installation include anti-corrosion spray, felt pads, and heat-shrink tubing.
This is a carburetor bowl. It holds the gas that is mixed with air before it enters the engine. The carburetor bowl contains a float which regulates the amount of gas needed to mix and fuel the engine. There are times when the carburetor in of itself is considered in good working order but the bowl may be compromised. This can happen if the bowl has been corroded. Rust will damage the carburetor bowl and render it ineffective. When replacing the carburetor bowl, be sure to work in a well-ventilated area and to wear the proper gear when handling engine parts. Once the carburetor is free from the engine, unscrew the bowl from the unit over a catch pan. Any contents will fall into the pan. Disassemble the old bowl's hardware and use it when installing the new bowl. This is a genuine OEM part manufactured by Tecumseh. It is compatible for Toro, Cub Cadet, and MTD engines.
