Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) I first replaced the two drive belts and the motor springs. That didn't fix it although they did need replacing. I then replaced the two bearings and the brake assy. The washer runs like new. If you replace the brake assembly, you should also replace the bearings. It will save a tear down later on. The Maytag repairman wanted $600.00 dollars to do the job. I did it for less than $200.00. First I ordered just the timer motor.. That did not work, so I ordered the full timer. It worked! Both parts were very easy to replace. Read more

• Leaking

Found the wonderful parts diagrams you most generously share online and a couple of YouTube videos . I determined it should be repairable. In my cast the agitator shaft was frozen (rusted) in place. I was very fortunate to have been able to eventually remove it with the use of a lot of BP penetrating oil and heat. Long and short the replacement parts fit perfectly and the washer is running like new. Special thanks to the online support make my repair possible. Read more

Replaced the timer motor and works perfectly. Read more

I emailed appliancepartspros.com with what my problem was and they informed me what was wrong they gave me a part number to order, tools needed and a brief explanation how replace the seal. they also have online video's for different repairs. I watched the video for lip seal(part # 207843) replacement.I also had to remove the brake assembly in order to replace the seal so I watched that video also.
