I unplugged the machine from the electric socket and removed the drain hose. I then shut the water valves to the unit. I removed the two screws from the rear sides of the control panel. Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts... Read more

The unit we have the top panel was attached from the side panels below the top panel,so I had to remove the three sides and top. I kept all the screws and attachments in order, vacuumed and cleaned the best I could.Once the top panel was replace I was able to reinstall the sides. That was a little time but got it done. First replaced the lid switch. Solved the problem on 3 of the 4 cycles. Then replaced the timer. Easy job. Washer runs like new. Including the cost for the lid switch, I spent $90 less than the estimate from the repair shop. Read more
