The oven temperature was low and the heating time excessive. However, the range display showed the requested 400F, even though the oven was really 250F. Because the oven displayed an inaccurate temperature, I ordered an oven sensor, a heating element, and a terminal block. Replacing the heating element fixed the problem. I first tested and replaced the temperature sensor. Since this is a slide-in range, I managed to pull it out just enough to access the back without disconnecting the downdraft and gas line. I had to remove the oven door, which I learned is made to come off without tools. Then took out the bottom by removing two screws and lifting. Removed the screws attaching the igniter, pulled wires thru back until I could get the connector and disconnect. When the new igniter arrived, I had to change the connector. I cut the one off the old one, and spliced to the new one using solder and shrink tubing. Just reverse the procedure to install. I replaced the screws with new ones. Read more

Broiler not heating? This limit switch stops power when temperatures exceed safe limits. Common DIY fix—requires removing back panel and multimeter testing.
I removed the oven back and I verified conductivity of the boiler element with an ohm meter. I then checked for a loose connection on the switch. The switch lead on one side was loose in the body of the switch. I replaced the limit switch and the broiler now works. Replacing the switch is simple but you may need to open the wire connecting lug as you want it to fit snugly but not force it on as this switch seems a little flimsy. Read more
