Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Slow water flow at despenser as if the filter was clogged   Richard L. • Tow , TX • February 20, 2016

First replaced water/ice maker solenoid switches at bottom of refrigerator with no improvement. Then replaced filter head and the base that was broken. That fixed the problem as the filter head had started leaking when cap/filter was removed. There was no leak for a long time at the filter head so it was difficult to determine just where the problem was in the system. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The plastic wheel in the ice crusher broke into pieces and the ice bucket had a crack in it   Carol C. • Weatogue , CT • August 07, 2015

The bucket was an easy fix. There is a film on the website showing exactly how to replace it. The ice crusher was a bit of a problem because it had to be completely taken apart -- many small parts to put back in order!! We used the diagram from the website, plus I took photos from various angles before we took it apart. We were careful, and with patience, it went back together. We ordered the parts on a weekend, and expected it to take a few days. The parts were sitting in our... Read more

Door Hinge, Single
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: W10850512

This door hinge restores smooth, controlled door movement and a tight, secure close. Replace a bent or worn hinge to correct doors that sag, bind, or won't stay closed, helping your appliance seal properly and perform as designed.

  • Supports and guides the door through its full range of motion
  • Helps keep the door aligned so the gasket compresses evenly for a proper seal
  • Controls closing action and stop position to protect the door and frame
  • Common symptoms: door won't close flush, sags, pops open, or moves roughly/squeaks

What's included: 1 door hinge assembly Installation notes:

  • Disconnect power at the breaker and allow the appliance to cool completely before servicing
  • Support the door; follow the service manual for door removal. Engage hinge locks or use retaining pins if equipped
  • Transfer any screws/brackets from the old hinge to the new and install on the correct side if the design is side-specific
  • Ensure the latch engages and the gasket seals uniformly all around

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Condensor fan stopped running compressor/coils overheating   Dana W. • Jefferson City , MO • June 27, 2014

Remove rear dust panel and grill to expose compressor and fan. Three 1/4 bolts hold fan in place from rear, need to "reach around and feel" used a 1/4" ratchet but nut driver would work as well to remove old fan/bracket. Disconnect electrical connection. On new fan, push fan blade onto fan shaft. New fan comes with 3 mounting arms and rubber bushings. Insert rubber bushings into old screw holes on the refrigerator, push new mounting arms through, hook end first. Use old 1/4" mounting... Read more
