When I identified a leak coming from the Heating Coil, I saw that the Heating Element Nut on both sides were corroded and could not hold the heating element tight any more. I replaced the ball and socket connection for the drum. After doing so, I realized that the belt had been stretched and the tension pulley was not putting enough tension on the belt to turn the drum. After ordering a new belt, extra screw that was lost while disassembling the dryer, and some high temperature lubricant for the drum ball and socket the dryer now runs as well as it did when it was new. The diffuser has something like a fan underneath that had gone separate from the body. The fan arms were chipped underneath. I thought that might have lead the spray arm to tilt and brush the heat coil, leading to melting on the sides. So, I changed the Diffuser & Lower Spray Arm. I think now the spray arm is parallel and staying above the heat coil. Hopefully it stays that way! Read more

Replaced the heater element, per the video. Also had to connect a new terminal to one of the heater element wires. Once the heater was again connected electrically, the washer completed the entire wash cycle without hesitation. (During the time that the heater element was non-functional, the control "dial" would stop near the bottom, about half way through the cycle, and had to be advanced "one click" manually).
