This is a Maytag oven control board. It manages and monitors oven temperatures and features a digital display. The control board can short out due to power surge or exposure to excessive heat. For example, if the oven's self clean function is run too long or too frequently, parts of the control board could melt or otherwise malfunction. If the control board has failed, the oven may not work at all.Before installing this part, be sure to cut power to the appliance and allow it to cool completely. The stove may need to be pulled away from the wall to access the screws holding the control panel in place. Remove the screws from each side of the control panel to gain access to the old control board. Disconnect any wire harnesses connected to it and remove any screws mounting it in place before installing the new part.This is a genuine OEM part compatible with ranges manufactured by Whirlpool brands, including Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and others. This product is just the panel and contains no additional parts or hardware.
We had a repairman come and diagnose the problem. I had figured out it was "probably" the igniter, the little heating element that ignites the propane inside the oven once it gets hot enough. The problem was indeed the igniter, and it was also the Control Board, since the broiler wouldn't come on either. So, we decided we would try the fix ourselves after watching the repair videos.
