Microwave not heating or making loud humming noise? The high-voltage capacitor supplies power to the magnetron. DIY repair in under an hour.
I ordered a new magnetron and a new capacitor and after they arrived I set to work. I took plenty of pictures with my phone to remind me how the components came apart but it was pretty straight forward. Once the new parts were in and everything was reassembled the microwave worked good as new. The repair was less than a third the cost of replacement and no special tools are required. Just be careful to discharge the capacitor. This website is a great resource. Read more
White plastic handle that attaches to the microwave door exterior. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing. Installs with screws behind inner door trim.
Replaced it. The instructions did not come with the Handle and a picture I had of the parts did not tell me. I used a putty knife to removed the ring around the door and once that was off could see where the rest of the door was held in with snaps. Using the putty knife again I moved the rest of the door, to expose the handle. Unscrew the screws holding the handle placed the new one on and re-screwed it. Snapped the inter door back on and than added the frame trim back on. Putting it back... Read more

Microwave won't turn on or has no power? A blown fuse is often the cause. This safety fuse protects circuits from shorts. Requires cover removal to replace.
In addition to blown fuse; the fuse holder was melted at one end. Checked the unit to see if any part or wiring that would cause the issue, none was visible. Referred to wiring diagram included inside to identify components, including interlocks. All seemed functional. Bought replacement 20A fuse. Fuse holder no longer available so bought similar unit with 25A rating - little retrofitting. Put unit back together, and it's working so far. Wife is happy. Read more
Replacement mounting plate for over-the-range microwaves. Anchors microwave to wall studs. Replace if bent, damaged, or missing to restore secure mounting.
Brought a mounting bracket and i installed it. The difficulty came in finding the location of the top holes in the microwave. If your microwave powers on but won't heat food, the magnetron likely failed. This high-voltage tube generates microwave energy. Moderate DIY repair.
I looked up the problem on the Appliance Pros forum and it sounded like the magnetron needed to be replaced. We looked up and ordered the part from Appliance Pros and replaced the magnetron 2 days later when we received it. It was not a difficult replacement but was tume consuming to take it down and remove the cover to get to the part. Within about 90 minutes, we had our microwave back on duty! Read more

Power cord connects your microwave to the wall outlet. Replace if damaged, frayed, chewed, or cut. Attaches to internal wiring with wire connectors.
The grill vent is only held in place by two screws. Super simple fix. Remove the two screws and the old grill vent, position the new vent and put the two screws back in. Replacing the cord required that cabinet to be removed. Lots of screws on the back, top and bottom. Once the screws were removed, the cabinet pulled back. The power cord connections were then clearly visible. Undid the two wire connectors and unscrewed the ground wire from the body to remove the old power cable. Installed the... Read more

Microwave runs but won't heat food? A failed magnetron is the most common cause. This RF energy tube replacement restores heating in 30-60 minutes.
After dismounting the unit from its wall-hanging bracket, the most tedious part of the repair was removing over a dozen screws holding the cover in place from the top, bottom, and both sides. Fortunately, I had placed the unit on a bench that allowed me to slide the unit allowing access to the screws on the bottom edges of the unit. Always discharge the capacitor before continuing to work on the unit by discharging the capacitor by shorting the contact without the diode to ground. Access to the... Read more
