The refrigerator / freezer were working ok (still cold, interior lights functioning); but the control panel on the exterior door was dead. Followed the maintenance tip, and checked that there was 12VDC to the panel, so confirmed the panel was the failed part. The panel is a friction fit part, with two tabs at the bottom. Since the compressor was still working, I guessed that either the interior fan was bad or the main control board. Since fans are usually very reliable, I decided to replaced the main control board. Immediately after replacing the board, the refrigerator began working normally. Thank goodness that solved the problem because replacing the board is much easier that replacing the fan on my refrigerator. Read more
