The refrigerator / freezer were working ok (still cold, interior lights functioning); but the control panel on the exterior door was dead. Followed the maintenance tip, and checked that there was 12VDC to the panel, so confirmed the panel was the failed part. The panel is a friction fit part, with two tabs at the bottom.
