I had been ignoring the water on the bottom (wiping it up periodically), but then the frig temp was running high and I could hear that the circulating fan wasn't running. Based on other reports, I assumed the water was from the evaporator tray. Not surprisingly, the evaporator tray was rusted through in multiple places, and the fan was dead. I ordered a clip retainer which hold the compressor in place. First, I discovered there are four clips and the one which I could easily move or turn by hand I ordered a replacement. The part came fast. In less than two minutes I had completed the repair. Read more
The left siderail broke - no doubt from pushing the ice bucket in too vigorously, too many times! In any case, removing the screws holding the rail to freezer wall was not too hard - having a 1/4" socket, with extension, made it easier. Turning the screws with only a screw driver handle, with 1/4" and 5/16" sockets would be tough. Dispenser works fine now. Read more
I looked for a site that sold replacement parts for my make of GE refrigerator. I found AppliancePartsPros, and was very surprised at how organized it was. By entering the model number of my refrigerator, I was shown a set of (approximately) 8 general parts diagrams for my refrigerator. I chose the ice making/dispensing diagram.
