I replaced the door latch to fix the problem. While taking apart the dishwasher, without following any direction but my own intuition, I broke a plastic piece on the lower door seal. I was able to find a YouTube that showed me how to replace the lower door seal. I was able to replace the door latch and panel facia by paying careful attention to the steps necessary to remove it.
