Membrane Switch
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP71002310

This membrane switch is an integral part of several ovens, stoves, and ranges by major manufacturers. This part is a keypad on the outside of the oven that allows a user to choose the appropriate temperature for cooking. Users can also use the membrane switch to choose various functions so the appliance properly cooks a meal. If this part is damaged, key presses may not cause the appliance to choose the right cooking options. If this occurs, the membrane switch should be replaced. Before taking on the replacement process, make sure the oven is unplugged from the wall. Pull the range out for access to the side panels. Remove the screws at the back of both. Pull the back corner out and unhook the clip to remove the side panel. Slide the trim to the back of the range until clear of the control panel. Remove the screws holding the membrane switch so it can be removed. Replace with the new component and reassemble.Created for Jenn Air ranges, stoves, and ovens, this is a genuine OEM replacement membrane switch. It is directly sourced from the manufacturer. This part is sold as a single component.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You I was getting an f 7 error and the darn thing kept dinging at me!   Elizabeth S. • Citrus Heights , CA • December 26, 2014

I ordered a new switch membrane and replaced the old one. It was very simple, and I think in the process I discovered why the prior switch membrane failed on me. There's only one connector from the membrane that goes into the "brains" of the thing, which I kept. I believe the old membrane connector got damaged when trying to shove it into it's slot, so I was quite careful this time and I hope I never need to buy a new one. First I took off the 4 knobs then took off the switch membrane.... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You First error code was "f7" after first iteration the second error code was "fc"   Michael M. • Smithfield , VA • December 05, 2015

Jenn-Air Model SVD48600 1. Error Code F7: Secured power and replaced the front display or membrane. Screws are along bottom edge and under stove top control knobs. Removed existing display board from membrane and installed it on the new membrane. Membrane wire ribbon end must be clean. Pull up little tabs on each end of socket on display board and ribbon just slips in/out. Push pins back in to secure. After all wires were reconnected, oven worked for a bit (2 hours or so) and then started... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Failed spark module   Thomas B. • Hillsborough , NJ • October 22, 2018

The spark module for my 1990 Caloric Model RSS398 Natural Gas double oven range stopped functioning. I tried to get the part at a local appliance parts store and was unsuccessful as they said the part was discontinued. I called the Appliance Parts Pros help line and spoke to an excellent service tech who took the time and made the effort to reference, cross reference, and find a part that was different in configuration, but functionally the same. The replacement part required modifications... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Stove downdraft stopped working   Robert B. • Gaithersburg , MD • March 08, 2016

I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more
