A basic set of tools will be needed. A pair of work gloves can also be useful. First, locate the compressor as it may be in various locations depending on the appliance model. Unplug the appliance before removing the compressor. The compressor is made to be used with refrigerators, ranges, stoves, ovens, air conditioners, and freezers created by Gibson, Frigidaire, Kelvinator, Montgomery Wards, Westinghouse, Tappan, JCPenney, Universal, and Kenmore.
