Flywheel Key
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 222698S

The flywheel key is the component on outdoor equipment that keeps the flywheel connected to the crankshaft. Over time, this key may become damaged or broken, particularly if the engine experiences a forceful stop, like hitting a large stationary object. If the flywheel key breaks, the engine will not start. A slightly damaged flywheel key is noticeable through symptoms like misfiring, backfiring, or having no power. If any of these are occurring, the flywheel key should be replaced to prevent complete engine failure.A flywheel puller tool is required for this repair. Make sure the engine is cool before working on the flywheel. Wear safety gear, including gloves and eye protection. Disconnect the spark plug and remove the blower housing. Remove the flywheel mounting nut and set it aside. Take the recoil starter cup off the mower. Use the flywheel puller to remove the flywheel and access the flywheel key. Remove the broken flywheel and replace it with the new flywheel. Reverse the steps to put the mower back together. This flywheel key is made of an aluminum alloy and is sold as an individual part. It is designed for use in lawnmowers, lawn tractors, and other small engines manufactured by Briggs and Stratton, Toro, Lawn-Boy, Simplicity, MTD, and others.

Carburetor Diaphragm
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 270026

The carburetor diaphragm is part of older model engines where a secure seal is needed. This diaphragm is installed on the carburetor and will help to ensure maximum engine operation. The carburetor is responsible for creating and providing the air/fuel mixture to the engine, and there are many working parts that help to ensure that happens, including the diaphragm. In the event that the seal isn't as tight as it should be or the carburetor seems to be performing less effectively, it might be time to replace this part. Replacing the diaphragm will restore the seal and ensure maximum engine operation, as well as prevent further damage to other parts. Make sure to wear gloves when working on engine parts and always disengage the engine and allow it to cool completely before starting repairs. This genuine OEM replacement part is designed for use on Briggs & Stratton engines, including 3-5 HP horizontal engines. It specifically fits those with the pulsa jet carburetor from previous generations. This part is made to exact manufacturer standards and complies with all guidelines and emission regulations.

Fuel Tank Gasket
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 272996

This is a replacement fuel tank gasket. It installs between the carburetor and the fuel tank assembly, and is sometimes called a carburetor gasket or a fuel tank assembly gasket. It helps to prevent leaks from occurring between the fuel tank assembly and the carburetor. Gaskets are subject to high temperatures and pressure. Over time, they will degrade, and leaks will eventually occur. When this happens, the gasket must be replaced. The gasket should also be replaced whenever the fuel tank assembly/carburetor are separated, such as to repair or replace the carburetor float. Signs the gasket needs to be replaced include visible leaks between the carburetor and the fuel tank and operational problems with the machine. To replace the fuel tank gasket, remove the air box and air filter. Disconnect the spark plug, and then crimp the fuel line closed. Remove the carburetor and then remove the old gasket. Note that it may require scraping. Make sure that both mating surfaces are clean and dry before installing the new gasket. Reassemble everything in reverse order. This is a genuine OEM replacement fuel tank gasket and is sold individually. It fits Briggs & Stratton engines on over 150 different yard machines.

Oil Seal
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 299819S

This oil seal is a common part engineered to work in engines that power generators, vacuum cleaners, snowblowers, leaf blowers, mowers, and other small engine applications. The seal sits between the crankcase and the crankshaft. It is designed as a barrier to prevent oil leakage and to stop contaminants from leaving the crankcase. When the gasoline engine exhibits diminished power, and especially if it begins to emit oily gray or bluish smoke, there is a good chance the oil seal needs to be replaced. In order to replace the faulty seal, begin by removing the starter housing and taking off the nut that holds the starter wheel to the main shaft. The user will find the old seal on this shaft. Remove it and install the new seal, pushing it into place with the edges of a socket, then tapping it securely into place with a hammer. When choosing a replacement seal, remember to use an OEM genuine replacement part that is guaranteed to match the specs for the original part. This will ensure a quality match and long replacement life. This seal is compatible with Toro, Lawn-Boy, and Briggs & Stratton engines.

Tube-Pick Up
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 391813

This tube-pick up was created for three to five horsepower horizontal and five horsepower vertical engines with a two to three-quart tank and a pulse jet carburetor. As part of the carburetor, the tube-pick up moves gas from the float bowl to the main body of the carburetor. Sometimes the tube-pick up can become clogged up with particles and dirt, which makes it harder for gasoline to flow through it. This component can also become damaged or cracked, which means it will need to be replaced to operate the lawn equipment. Replacement requires removing the carburetor from the fuel tank, removing the tube-pick up and installing the new version. Carb cleaner may also be used in the process. This tube-pick up is a genuine OEM product directly from the manufacturer. It comes as an individual part and is made out of plastic. It is used for engines on leaf blowers, generators, tillers, lawn tractors, and lawnmowers by Simplicity, Briggs & Stratton, Cub Cadet, and Toro. A set of pliers may be needed to install the tube-pick up.

Carburetor Float
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 398187

The carburetor float is housed in the carburetor and is used to help control the fuel flow. It adjusts the needle valve and ensures that the appropriate amount of fuel reaches the carburetor bowl. This helps provide the right mixture of air and gasoline for the engine to operate at optimal performance. Over time, the float can become worn or detached, or the pin could come loose. When this happens, the flow is affected, and the engine will not operate correctly. If the float isn't working correctly on a lawnmower or another small engine, it might be time for a replacement. This replacement part is a genuine OEM product designed to be used with many Briggs & Stratton engines, including lawnmowers, pressure washers, generators, and other lawn and outdoor equipment engines. It is sold as a single unit with the metal cotter pin included. There are more than 150 compatible machines that this unit will work with. If your lawnmower isn’t working as it should or if the float has come loose and can't control the flow appropriately, this OEM replacement can get things back in working order.

Needle & Seat Kit
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 398188

The carburetor has a float valve to control the flow of fuel from the tank to the reservoir. A float valve has three main components - a float, seat, and a needle. When there is adequate fuel level in the carburetor, the float will rise, prompting the needle to close against its seat and prevent overflowing. If the float valve is malfunctioning, it may overflow the carburetor. In some cases, it doesn't provide ample fuel into the carburetor. If you suspect that the needle and seat are faulty, don't waste another moment. Over time, a defective needle and seat can lead to more expensive repairs like a leaking carburetor and even an engine misfiring. For a genuine OEM replacement, get this Midwest Engine 398188 Needle & Seat Kit. Please take note that the Midwest Engine 398188 Needle & Seat Kit only comes with the needle and seat. If you also need a genuine Midwest Engine float replacement, you will need to purchase it separately.

Starter Clutch
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 399671

When a starter rope is pulled, it will uncoil and provide tension to the spring and then engage the starter clutch, which turns the crankshaft to crank the engine. The starter clutch could have problems due to natural wear. It could also be damaged due to an incident with the machine. Corrosion could also be a factor since it is made from metal. When there are issues with the starter clutch, it will be difficult to get the engine started. The best course of action is for the operator to replace the clutch. This is a genuine OEM replacement starter clutch that is sold individually. The part can be used for many types of equipment including lawn mowers, snowblowers, tillers, pressure washers, leaf blowers, edgers, wood chippers, generators, and other small engines. Compatible brands include Craftsman, Toro, Cub Cadet, Lawn-Boy Simplicity, MTD, Murray, and Briggs & Stratton. Operators should ensure they are getting the correct starter clutch as a replacement.

Rewind Spring
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 490179

This rewind spring, also known as the recoil spring, is an essential part in a small engine. Its job is to rewind the pull rope back into the starter housing and, should there be difficulty in retraction, it is often because the rewind spring has failed. This OEM replacement part works in the engines and starter systems of tillers, pressure washers, lawn mowers, snowblowers, leaf blowers, generators, edgers, and wood chippers. It is suited to brands like Toro, Cub Cadet, Briggs & Stratton, Lawn Boy, MTD, and others. The primary component is the spring, which is found inside of a metal housing. This part ships individually, and should the housing need to be replaced, it is a separate purchase.

Pulley Spring Assembly
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 499901

Firing up the lawn mower should be a simple act: hold down the safety bar, grip the hand pull, and yank the rope. What if nothing happens? The pulley works by tightening the spring, then letting it loose, creating compressed air and fuel at the same time the magneto fires the spark plug. It is rare to have an issue with the pulley spring assembly that starts the chain reaction and results in the engine coming to life, but it is possible for the part to fail. If there is a problem with the starter mechanism then it is typically the rope pull wearing out. Users will know when the pulley assembly isn't working either because there is no resistance when the rope is pulled or pulling the rope results in no compression (the engine doesn't sound as if it's turning). When it is determined that the pulley spring needs to be replaced, the user should examine the pull rope and handle to make sure those items do not need to be replaced as well. The most important consideration in replacing this part is to make sure the replacement is an OEM genuine replacement part, which will exactly match this pulley. The pulley is compatible with Cub Cadet and Briggs & Stratton engines.

Fuel Tank Cap
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 796577

This is a fuel tank cap for compatible lawnmowers, snowblowers, and pressure washers. It’s constructed from black plastic and is designed as a simple drop-in replacement. No modifications or adjustments need to be made on any compatible engine model. Fuel tank caps can become damaged if the tank is dropped or if other damage causes the cap to become cracked. This is a safety hazard and should be fixed as soon as possible. They can also become damaged if the cap becomes detached from the clip. To remove the old fuel tank cap, the only tool that should be required is a pair of pliers. Pinch the clip shut where the tether connects to the fuel tank housing and pull it loose to remove it without causing any damage. This is an OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer, and it is sold individually. It’s been used for several brands, including Briggs & Stratton, Troy-Bilt, Toro, and Craftsman.

Grip-Starter Rope
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 281434S

This grip-starter rope is a genuine Midwest Engine replacement part for outdoor appliances with small pull start engines, such as lawn mowers, snowblowers, wood-chippers, leaf blowers, and chainsaws. The grip-starter rope is the piece that allows an appliance user to start the engine by pulling the rope; this mechanism can be referred to as a recoil starter, a starter rewind, or a rope start as well. Any damage to a grip-starter rope will be obvious to the naked eye; while the problems with the actual starting mechanism of a pull start-operated engine might be more difficult to assess and root out, the damage to the actual grip-starter rope itself will come in the form of tears, rips, and general time-worn erosion of the casing material of the rope. If there is significant tearing on the rope itself, this replacement grip-starter rope can serve as a replacement part. Remember to always wear gloves when handling, repairing, and operating outdoor equipment. This grip-starter rope is compatible with the following brands: Briggs and Stratton, Toro, Cub Cadet, and Simplicity.

Hose Clamp
Genuine Midwest Engine part
By: Midwest Engine
Part Number: 791850

A hose clamp serves the basic purpose of holding together two connecting hoses. This is a crucial job in an engine. Since there are so many connecting tubes and hoses transferring oil and fuel within an engine, a leak could prove catastrophic. It could not only cause the engine to malfunction but could also become a fire hazard. Replacing a hose clamp is an easy job, though the exact process will depend on where the connection is located. A pair of pliers may be needed. This is a genuine OEM replacement part and will work with a wide range of appliances, such as pressure washers, engines, generators, tractors, mowers, blowers, shredders, and chippers from Murray, Toro, Briggs & Stratton, Snapper, MTD, Lawn-Boy, or Simplicity. This part ships individually.
